eco and budget friendly spring breakThese days, people are understanding the importance of sustaining the environment. With natural resources being depleted at an alarming rate and evident changes in climates globally, it’s a difficult thing to ignore. The question then becomes what can you do to contribute to improving to such a massive problem. The answer is in the little things you do on a daily basis such as cooking, cleaning, and transporting yourself from one point to the next. If you’re looking for ways to be eco-friendlier, you’re going to find a few tips below.

Shop Less

If you look through all of your belongings and are honest with yourself, you will notice that you have several items you don’t need. Being eco-friendly could mean doing something as simple as shopping less. Nevertheless, if you must shop, use a few tips below to make it as green as possible.

  • Buy Vintage: When you think about it, there is an abundance of clothing items out there that aren’t being worn by anyone and as a result, are going to waste. Consider buying vintage or second-hand clothing items as a way of helping the environment.
  • Look for eco-friendly Materials: Since so many brands are becoming greener, this gives you more options as a consumer. Source brands that are using eco-friendly materials to make their clothing items and purchase those instead of non-eco-friendly ones. Examples include linen that’s made from flax, hemp, bamboo, silk, and organic wool.

Use an Electric Vehicle

If you happen to drive, think about converting to the side of electric vehicles. In case you didn’t know, they have immense benefits such as being a lot cheaper to run. They also help the environment seeing as they reduce harmful air pollution from exhaust emissions. You’d be using renewable energy to recharge your vehicle, and therefore, will be reducing greenhouse emissions. Another plus is that you can get an electric car charger installation, so it’s easy to charge your car. Overall, electric vehicles are economical cars, so consider getting one.

Learn to Garden

Food is something you consume every single day. In light of this, learning how to garden could be a great way to contribute to a better environment. Gardening has immense benefits for both the world around you and your health. Below are a couple of tips that could help.

Compost: Instead of throwing food scraps away, why not get into composting? By doing this, you can dispose of food scraps you aren’t using in a way that nourishes the ground. More specifically, composting enriches the soil, reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, and helps the soil retain moisture.

Use Indoor Plants: If you don’t have an outdoor garden, you can bring plants inside instead. This is a way of cleansing the air and ensuring you’re breathing in clean oxygen. In case you’re looking for easy houseplants, the fiddle leaf fig adapts to bright locations. African violets are popular house plants globally and bloom several times in the year, so add that to your list of plant options.

There are so many ways to be environmentally friendly, but I think everyone should at least stick to the ways described by you and life on planet earth will become better. Last on your list, I bought an electric car, because a car with a conventional engine is one of the few things that has a very strong impact on the environment and we need to switch to engines with electronic batteries as soon as possible.
