A must on anyone’s holiday bucket list should be the quaint little town of Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Home of the classic Norman Rockwell painting of an American town at Christmas called Main Street at Christmas, Stockbridge recreates the painting every year in a celebration of the holidays, the town and an era gone by.
The 3 day event includes all sorts of winter wonderland events that include a presentation of Norman Rockwell’s Christmas paintings, a classic car show, craft fairs, plays, pageants and more. All of Main Street is an open house for visitors young and old filled with music, food and holiday magic. It comes alive, showcasing the holidays of yesterday and how they can be recaptured today.
When visiting Stockbridge, it is a must to stay at Rockwell’s favorite resting spot, The Red Lion Inn. In operation since the 18th century, the Red Lion is a charming, country style, New England Inn with all the amenities you want in a holiday vacation. In fact, it keeps it’s old world charm while being a fully sustainable lodge as well! Dine, shop, sleep, The Red Lion is hospitality at its finest. Be sure to let the chef know ahead of time about any special diet requests and they will whip up a fabulous gourmet meal for you!
