8 DIY Craft IdeasEvery homeowner would like to live in a decorated home, but it is not always the case. Home decoration is expensive especially painting, buying furniture, etc. However, you can use DIY home décor ideas, which are cheap and classy. Have your tools ready and get down to making those homemade accessories you’ve always wanted, and at a cheaper cost. Getting experts to decorate your home is a good idea but costly. Some decoration techniques can be done even without the professional’s intervention. Here are some of the unique idea to try:

Faux Stainless Steel Cabinets

The common metals purchased by consumers are aluminum which comes as a tube, sheet, bar, plate, hot or cold-rolled steel, and stainless steel. However, most users prefer stainless steel to add a classy look to their cabinets because they are; easy to clean and maintain, stylish and durable.

The tools and materials to use are a blow dryer, knife, and stainless steel film. To make the stainless steel cabinets, follow these steps:

Step 1: Sand the entire cabinet using a power sander and ensure it is smooth. Afterward, dust off the surface and clean it.

Step 2: Pull the backing paper, place the foil, and smooth from the center to the edges. Remove air and creases using a ruler and prick any bubbles on the surface.

Step 3: Cut the foil on cabinet door openings, and fold all edges.

Step 4: Use a blow dryer to heat the surface and stick the foil firmly.

Tissue Box Cover

Make a classy tissue box that is favorable for all weather. Use polyurethane to cover the tissue box and veneer strips to conceal one side of the box. Use glue and stick together the whole box and let it dry.

You can use a stronger glue like Gorilla Glue to make sure it doesn’t come off easily. However, make sure that you don’t let Gorilla glue on skin for too long as it will be too difficult for it to remove when it gets dry.

DIY Stepping Stones

Stepping stones are used for walking on when moving around the garden without stepping on the sand. They create nice-looking patterns and add a little bit of personalized artwork. The best material to make them is concrete, which is the most used human-made material worldwide, and it’s the second most consumed substance after water.

Choose finer concrete that has small gravel. It will give your stepping stones a smooth look, and it’s also easy to decorate. The materials to use are, wheelbarrow or a large bucket, a trowel or concrete mixer, gloves, dust mask, and water.

Put the mixture in a bucket, add water and use a trowel or a concrete mixer. Make a loser mixture so that it pours and settles into the form.

DIY Side Table

You can put extra stuff on the side table such as books, a flower vase, among others. For angles, adjust your saw up to 7 degrees, and you’ll be good to go. Cut the correct pieces and use a driller to make pocket holes on the wooden board. Lastly, attach all pieces according to the measurements and place your side table at your preferred place.

DIY Firepits

With a homemade fire pit, you’ll enjoy an outdoor stay all year round, even in winter. Design it to suit your needs and one that will serve you for a long time. If you have frequent guests, make a ground fire pit with a paver. For family use, you can have a classy-looking fire pit built out of wall blocks.

Making a fire pit is a perfect beginner metalworking course which you can start simple or complex according to the type of metal in use. However, the project will require metalworking fluids whose main purpose is removing corrosion, lubrication, cooling, and chip removal.

Once your fire pit is complete, look for comfortable chairs and outdoor tables to use when enjoying drinks with your family or guests.

In Conclusion

Be it your bedroom, living room, kitchen, stairways, house exterior, or any other area in your home, you can always decorate them using simple DIY ideas. You will save on cost, plus you’ll make customized items according to your taste. Looking at your homemade pieces is something you’ll always feel proud of.

Good advice, thank you. I am now more interested in mobile homes and the possibilities and flexibility that they can give. The MobileHomeLife blog almost always has good advice for every occasion. But more often than not, interior solutions or DIY projects can enhance your home.
