niagara fallsWhile there is no doubt that your upcoming trip to Niagara Falls, Canada will include a visit to the spectacular falls themselves, there are also many other attractions this world-class destination has to offer. Here we’ll take a look at the top five attractions you’ll want to check out, as well as tips when it comes to finding accommodation.

Hotel Booking Tips

Before we even discuss the attractions, it’s important to take a look at tips for booking your accommodation. Niagara Falls is known for its huge variety of hotel accommodations at a variety of price points. You’ll find everything from luxury hotels with spas and top of the line restaurants, to quaint little establishments, and of course family-friendly hotels.

It’s a good idea to start looking at Niagara Falls, Canada hotels well in advance of your trip. This is an incredibly popular tourist destination all year round, but summer is typically the busiest. This also means that accommodations book up fast, so if you don’t jump on your favorite at the time, you may be out of luck.

If you are looking to save a little money, it pays to book during off-season, which is about January through to mid-May.

With that said, it’s possible to find special deals, promotions, and discounts at hotels year-round, so again, spending the time to do your research does pay off.

Clifton Hills

When it comes to the top attractions, Clifton Hills is where the majority of them are located. Clifton Hills is a street that runs all the way down to the falls themselves. Along this street, tourists can find all kinds of things including shops, restaurants, mini-golf, wax museums, arcades, movie theatres, and so much more.

The street itself is very walkable and safe, so it’s best you find a place to park your vehicle and walk. This will help ensure you don’t miss out on anything!

Because it is a major tourist destination it’s not exactly cheap, so it’s always good to be prepared for prices that are higher than usual. This goes for the restaurants too, even if they are large chains.

Falls Experiences

It’s one thing to look at the falls from the walkway above, but it’s a whole other thing to take part in one of the experience tours. One of the best ways to truly experience the beauty and strength of the falls is to take one of the Hornblower Niagara Cruises. You will board the ship and head right out into the river and towards the Horseshoe Falls. Expect to get wet, windblown, and totally blown away by the scenery and beauty of it all!

Fallsview Indoor Waterpark

If you’re traveling with kids, then the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark is a must-visit. This indoor waterpark is located on top of one of the hotels it is connected to, so while you zip down the waterslides you’ll have a 360 degree view of the falls and the city itself. If you are staying at one of the hotels connected to the waterpark, you can receive a discount on admission. Some hotels even offer waterpark stay and play packages.

Casino Action

Niagara Falls also gives visitors not one, but two ways to take part in casino action. There is the Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara to visit and test your luck in. Both offer gaming, dining, and theatres. Even if you don’t typically find yourself visiting casinos, they are still worth checking out.

Clifton Hill Skywheel

For those who are visiting the falls for the very first time, or even the sixth time, there is nothing like the Clifton Skywheel. This massive ferris wheel stands 175 feet in height and gives riders an incredible opportunity to get a full view of the falls (both the Canadian and American sides), the city, and all its many attractions. Riders sit inside an enclosed pod, made from glass so you can get a full view of the sights. It is recommended you try to ride the Skywheel at night and in the day, as it offers a very different experience.

Always a Great Time to Visit

The beauty about Niagara Falls, Canada is that there is never a bad time to visit. No matter what time of year you book your trip you are in for unbelievable scenery, non-stop sights and attractions, fabulous dining, and lots of shopping opportunities. It’s the kind of trip you can take again and again and it will still manage to be different each time.
