Tips for Feeling Confident in Your Own Skin

feeling confidentBeing a woman in this day and age can be cruel. Why? Society paints a picture of what they believe to symbolize “beauty” in a woman, and it can be pretty tempting to start comparing yourself to what others find attractive. While having a shapely figure, awesome makeup, a killer hairdo, and a nice outfit can make a woman feel alive, vibrant, and sexy… the true sexiness comes in her confidence to love herself, flaws and all.

I struggled with self-confidence issues for a while. Like most of us, it likely started in high school where being picked on for imperfections was quite common. Now we live in this digital age where cyber bullies, critics, and the like can chime in and pick us apart. It was an upward battle, but once I started really investing in myself and my confidence, the things that once bothered me, no longer do.

How did I get to this point? A lot of prayers, patience, and these tips listed below:

Fix What You Don’t Like

We live in a highly advanced world in which you can pretty much transform yourself into the “ideal image” you’d like to see when you look in the mirror. Whether you’re struggling with weight issues, skin imperfections, or body issues that you’re not proud of, there are typically several solutions out there you could try.

For instance, if you are struggling with your weight, dieting and exercise can help. If your issue is a skin imperfection, such as unsightly varicose veins, you could look into treatments such as those offered by http://www.ivein.com/ and reduce or eliminate the appearance of those veins.

Now I provide this tip with caution. You should never change something about yourself that someone else doesn’t like. You should only change if it is something you’re not proud of.

Walk Around Naked

Of course, this should probably be done in the comfort of your own home, but there is something fulfilling about walking around in the nude that can help you to embrace who you are. Admire yourself in the mirror and speak positive affirmations about yourself, who you are, and how gorgeous you are as a woman. The more you say it, the more you do it, the better you feel.

Check Out Women Your Size

The thing about beauty is that it comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Instead of staring at the likes of Kim Kardashian all day long, why not start looking at models, celebrities, or even everyday women that you find attractive who are close to your size. By surrounding yourself with beautiful women who are similar to you, you start to feel better about who you are. It’s like their confidence rubs off on you.

Fly Solo

Maybe you’re used to taking the kids out, going out with friends, or tagging along with the hubby… well it’s time to get out there and see what life is like on your own. Sometimes when you’re out by yourself, start to feel a bit more comfortable. This was very true for me in that I would consider myself an introvert and had friends who were more outgoing who would steal the spotlight. By putting myself out there and going it on my own, I began to feel more confident in my own identity.

Treat Yourself

Sometimes feeling confident in your own skin means getting something new. Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve bought yourself an outfit or got a new hairstyle. You’re a beautiful woman who certainly deserves to have nice things, so don’t hesitate to treat yourself sometimes. There’s something about stepping out and feeling new that makes you feel great.

Whether it’s weight, skin imperfections, or a social ill, you can get past it. At the end of the day, feeling good about who you are and confident in your skin is all mind over matter. If you can change the way you think about yourself, what others have to say won’t matter at all. Hopefully, these tips that I’ve provided you with will also help you to boost your confidence so that you can walk confidently in all of your beauty.
