This summer, Knotts Berry Farm, America’s 1st theme park, will soon be the first of its kind to offer fully gluten free, vegan and diabetic friendly options throughout the park. And I’m excited to be the driving force in creating the new items around the park that will be rolled out all summer long at both Knotts Berry Farm and its water park, Soak City!
Soon, park goers will be able to enjoy vegan, gluten free and soy free baked mac n’ cheese, vegan and gluten free pizza, vegan “buttermilk” battered “chicken” tenders and tofu scramble for brunch, just to name a few. Along with vegan and gluten free friendly burgers, hot dogs, salads, and yes, their popular funnel cakes, special diet theme park enthusiasts will not only be able to enjoy the rides, but also the plethora of food options, both savory and sweet (did someone say vegan and gluten free funnel cakes topped with vegan whipped cream?)
Knotts Berry Farm is already serving some of the items and will continue to roll out more this summer. Be sure to ask for more details when visiting the park as an official launch will be coming up later in the season.
So if you’re looking to have fun at a theme park as well as enjoy some fun vegan and special diet goodies, Knotts is the place to be!
More information to come at Knotts.com as well as here! Stay tuned!

@ Nebraska:So, the only ingredient they alter is the milk? I hope there’s no butter in that recipe.
@ Deanna:
I did have the funnel cake. They were out of almond milk for the funnel cake when we got to the stand, but said that they would try to track down the ingredients for us and to check back. A few hours later they had found enough to make two funnel cakes. That employee was AWESOME.
@ Tara:
This happened to mea few days ago. We were able to track down vegan options, but it was incredibly frustrating and disorganized and none of the staff seemed to know what was going on. I encourage everyone to write to Knott’s to let them know about your experience. The staff seems to be poorly trained and the program is poorly implemented.
Is there any update on this? I will be there July 3rd and would like to know if I can plan on eating at the park or not. I called Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant today, and the person who answered the phone didn’t really have a lot of answers, although she said the servers carry cards with gluten free options. Any suggestions from someone who has eaten at the restaurant or in the park would be appreciated.
Been a couple times this year. Have had the vegan pizza, “chicken” tenders, and vegan burger (which is the veggie burger with a lettuce bun). All yummy. Though the options do seem to be scattered about at different food vendors/restaurants in the park, we usually just go to the Grizzly Creek Lodge, where they have all of those and seem better educated about the offerings.
Reallyreallyreally want to try a vegan funnel cake, but the kids at all the funnel cake places looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about them.
We were there Dec 30 and there are NO gluten free funnel cakes. I asked several people and was told because of the need to have a separate fryer they will probably never have them! Also other GF options were VERY limited. My kids are 8 & 9 and both have Celiac so GF is not a preference but a requirement. We had to end up leaving the park to get lunch (due to your rave reviews I didn’t pack a lunch for them). Disappointment all around. They were devistated to learn there were no GF funnel cakes. They have seen them frequently (we live near the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and visit it often) and were so excited to think they could finally try them. Shame on you for spreading false information.
sorry, but I don’t believe there are any vegan funnel cakes. I went there yesterday and asked everywhere. An employee from one of the funnel cake places even got on the phone to ask about it and they said they didn’t have any gluten free or vegan funnel cakes :/ I also saw wry few vegan options at restaurants but maybe I didn’t check all of them..
Just spoke with a Knott’s representative and she listed Grizzly Creek Lodge in Camp Snoopy, Coaster’s Diner on the Boardwalk, and Sutter’s in the Ghost Town among others that have the widest selection of vegan options including burgers, dogs, “chicken,” mac & “cheese,” etc.
any new news? What is currently available at Knotts? I called today (11-10-13) and no one has any idea what I’m talking about. Which restaurants? what options?
I just got an email from Knotts after i asked about these vegan options, and they sent me a small list of food that they have vegan and they only mentioned pizza and a few other things… Not funnel cakes or chicken or mac n cheese :/
Sweet blog! I found it while browsing on Yahoo News.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News?
I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
Appreciate it
Hey! Do you know if they make any plugins to assist with SEO?
I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some
targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good gains.
If you know of any please share. Appreciate it!
So is there any new news here? We are planning on visiting the park a couple weeks from now and were excited to read about possibly not needing to pack in a bunch of food or have to leave to eat, but when I called it sounds like no one has ever heard of having any vegan options there?
@ Tara:Hi tara! As mentioned in the post:
“Knotts Berry Farm is already serving some of the items and will continue to roll out more this summer. Be sure to ask for more details when visiting the park as an official launch will be coming up later in the season.”
It’s a slow roll out so check back periodically to see where the new items will be served ; )
This doesn’t exist. I am at knotts right now (7-26-13) and I have asked everywhere and nobody has vegan anything, with the exception of Johnny rockets with there Boca patty. I checked online before coming just to make sure I didn’t have to pack my own lunch, oh well, thank goodness I brought some snacks. Too bad, I was really looking forward to vegan funnel cake. I guess I’ll just stick with Disneyland.
I must convey my respect for your generosity for persons that should have assistance with your content.
Your very own commitment to getting the solution all through became really informative and has surely enabled those just like me to arrive
at their targets. Your own warm and helpful guideline implies so much to me and even further to my office colleagues.
Thanks a ton; from each one of us.
