Spending quality time with friends, family and loved ones offer countless benefits to your mind and spirit. There’s nothing quite like sharing food, drink and laughter with those you hold dear. Throwing a party is a great way to do all this and have a great time, but what if you’re an inexperienced party host who’s unsure of how to bring it all together? Ensure Your Guests Comfort

The first thing you want to do is to make sure that your guests are going to feel comfortable outdoors. In winter, you can achieve this by investing in outdoor patio heaters, that will keep your guests nice and warm while you enjoy being outdoors under the night sky. 

In summer, your patio should provide a nice source of shade, but you might also want to hand out little personal fans or misters to keep people feeling cool and comfy. If the rest of your yard is open to the elements, consider erecting a gazebo or marquee, or even investing in a shade sail.

Set the Mood

As a party host, it’s up to you to set the mood for the night. You can do this easily by considering your use of sound and light. 

For sound, set up a sound system or portable speaker outside (you can hire a sound system if you want to crank it up). And, to get your guests involved and to make them feel part of the party, put out your invites with a link to a Spotify playlist that everyone can add tunes to, so everyone hears and enjoys the songs they want.

When it comes to lighting, you can achieve maximum impact with practically minimal effort. String some fairy lights or festoon globes around your patio and yard, and you’ll have lovely ambient lighting for a nighttime event. If you’re concerned about power use, get solar lights – but make sure they have a few days to charge before the party.

Have An Outside Dining Table and Plenty of Chairs

It’s all well and good to have a great BBQ, some tunes and food and drink, but you’ll also need somewhere for your guests to sit. Invest in an outdoor table and chairs setting so you have somewhere to serve the feast and somewhere for you and your guests to sit and drink, eat and chat. You can grab a matching table and chair set from most hardware or outdoor stores. 

As well as a dining table and chairs, ask yourself if you have enough chairs so that everyone can have a seat during the event? People will get tired and sore if they have to stand up for too long. You can even hire basic plastic chairs from a company if you come up short.

Insect Repellant

Consider having some insect repellant products available for people to use, especially if you’re hosting in summer. Those pesky flies and annoying mozzies will dampen the mood quickly if you’re not careful. You can also get some citronella candles which should keep the bugs away.
