LA’s Eco-Education Destinations

(Eco-)School is in Session All Over L.A

Whether you’re a long time Angeleno, a regular, or a first-time visitor, L.A. has plenty of places to get you up to speed on green while you have a good time. (And there are places like them in other cities as well.) Whether connecting to nature, teaching practical skills, or giving a science lesson you won’t nap through, here are eco-education destinations to consider adding to your fall schedule:

Get Schooled in Science

The California Science Center’s new Ecosystems Exhibit is a feast for the senses that recreates 11 different habitats all under one roof. Chuck Kopczak, the curator of the space, says it includes over 2,000 live animals and more than 100 interactive elements for a total immersion experience, from the kelp forest off California’s shore to desert canyons to our very own urban setting. My favorite bits? The encased shark eggs, island games and Kim Abeles’s giant person made of paper trash.

Learn the Ropes

To see how being green at home really looks, take a tour of The Green Beacon, an almost 100-year old house remodeled to demonstrate ecological design. Or sample one of Sustainable Works in Santa Monica’s green living workshops.

Try a Little DIY

Learn to make your own clothes, knit your own scarves and sock monkeys or generally get your skills on while skipping the usual system of stuff. From east to west you’ve got: The Little Knittery, Sew L.A., Sewing Arts Center and Urban Craft Center. And surely spots in between.

Get Your Hands Dirty and Feet Wet

Simply a stroll through TreePeople’s park headquarters is a chance to explore both what L.A. mountains have to offer and ways to share that wealth with the city below.  Take it a step further by attending a tree planting or being trained as a Citizen Forester. Over at Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, indulge in a combination of cool animal attractions and conservation education.

Transport Yourself

If you want to start or further your bad cyclist self this fall, L.A. bike culture’s got your back. At C.I.C.L.E. learn how to ride a bike for the first time or, if you’re a more seasoned rider, how to handle your bike safely in traffic. And check out other two-wheeling events and bike-related resources while you’re at it. Once you’ve got the swing of things, head to The Bicycle Kitchen or Bikerowave to find out how to keep your wheels maintained with your own two hands.

No mater what you choose, you’re bound to have lots of eco-friendly fun!

I hate to miss my deadlines in college, but sometimes life brings its adjustments. At such moments, I can barely find time to eat, not to mention college weird tasks. Therefore, the only way to survive and keep on studying is to use the boostmygrades service.

While you can’t rely on the word of a friend or a family member, you can read topcv cv review and choose the best company for your needs. The best companies are transparent in their policies and charges and should have detailed terms on their websites. Although the company can’t offer guarantees, it is likely to have high quality and reasonable prices. Make sure to read these policies carefully, as they will give you a clear picture of what you can expect.

Thanks for sharing! I recently wrote an essay on a similar topic, I think that eco-education is very important in the modern world, it’s good that there are services such as https://essaypaperforsale.com/ that can cover this topic as best as possible, they helped me with the essay.
