eco travel tips for a barbados vacationWhen some people go on holiday, they use it as an excuse to over-indulge in unhealthy foods and giving up on any form of exercise all together to simply lounge in front of a pool all day. If you are going to travel to a new country and spend your hard earned money on doing so, spending your precious days away in this manner will not only mean your health takes a turn for the worst but that you will have willingly given up the chance of experiencing a whole new culture and country just so you can have a lie in every day and eat fast food.

In this little guide, you’re going to find tips on how to keep yourself fit and healthy when on vacation, so that you return home completely refreshed and revitalized.

A great place to stay

The first thing you need to do is find somewhere to stay that has the beauty and comfort, as well as the personal space you are so desperately looking for when on vacation. One of the perks of being on vacation is being able to sleep in and relax in an environment that is completely yours, while not having to wrestle with tourists for a space around the pool.

Villas in Canary Islands are great to consider when you want to have a healthy holiday as both the villas and the destination of the Canary Islands will offer you a luxurious vacation from the stresses of work life. Alongside this, the serenity and peacefulness offered by a self-contained villa will help you relax and reconnect with nature.

Keeping to your regimen

When you’re away, eating healthy on holiday is essential to keeping your energy levels high while not jeopardizing your health. If you’re in a catered for villa, make sure to ask for healthy options for breakfast. If you have opted to go self-catered, then when you get down to the local supermarket be sure to buy lots of fruit, whole-wheat bread for toast, and some nuts. Of course, you are on vacation, so the odd treat here and there is allowed. Make sure you are exercising though, be it swimming or walking around the nearest town.

Not forgetting exercise

The best way to build exercise into your holiday is to go places on foot so that you incorporate both sight-seeing and exercising into one. For example, if you are sight-seeing in the Canary Islands, you can spend a day walking around the stunning Teide National Park. Home to the world’s third largest volcano, you can ascend the heights of this mountainous wonder of nature by cable car before going across the crater floor and seeing the volcano up close.

Going exploring in a new part of the world you have never seen before is one of the biggest privileges you can have in your life, so you don’t want to be wasting time baking in the sun when you could be out there living your best life.
