Recognize Bad Behavior
When you’ve been with somebody for a long time, it’s easy to slip into bad habits like taking them for granted, ignoring their feelings or arguing about petty things. It’s so important that you learn to recognize these behaviours, especially the more toxic ones, in yourself and your partner so you can deal with them before they get out of hand. In some cases, you might recognize seriously bad behaviour like manipulation and personal attacks and that means it might be time to end the relationship. But more often than not, it’s the smaller things like not showing your appreciation for one another and they can be fixed as long as you pick up on them early enough. Always keep an eye on your own behaviour in the relationship and make sure that you’re not falling into bad habits.
Surprise Them
People can surprise you when you don’t know them very well but when you’ve been in a relationship with somebody for years, those surprises fade away. But they don’t have to as long as you make more of an effort to surprise your partner. Buying them small impromptu gifts is a great way to surprise them and show them that you still care. Buying gifts for men can be hard but it doesn’t have to be anything big. You can also plan dates or weekend trips without telling them and surprise them that way as well. By doing unexpected things like this, you can keep the relationship more exciting.
