flooringVinyl flooring has been trending for some years now. You will see many new homes having such flooring. The vinyl planks and tiles that you will find in the market are very realistic and beautiful.

It creates a unique look that you will hardly find in any other type of flooring. It is even said to be as durable as wood. Another reason for its popularity is that it is cheaper than marble, stone, and other expensive hardwood floors.

You can get a similar look of marble or other expensive floors by using the luxury vinyl plank. Once you have installed vinyl flooring in your home or office, you need to take proper care of it. Otherwise, even the floor that you have installed recently won’t look as shiny as before. It is necessary to clean such floors regularly to maintain its original shine and color.

The good news is that maintaining vinyl plank flooring is neither expensive nor complicated. Here you will know how to clean vinyl plank flooring.

Cleaning vinyl floors with a vacuum

You should use a vacuum cleaner to clean your vinyl floor every day. Invest in a good vacuum cleaner, and you won’t have to worry about keeping your floor clean. Visit cloodjo to find some of the best vacuum cleaners for your vinyl flooring. You should vacuum your floor two to three times a week. If you have children or pets at home, then you will need to vacuum your floors every day.

Deep cleaning

Apart from everyday cleaning, your floor needs deep cleaning every week. You should first sweep your floor to get rid of the loose debris. Then take a bucket of warm water and add regular dish soap in it.

Then just mop away your floors. You can add some vinegar to the soap water solution for that extra shine. After you have mopped the floor with a soap-water solution, you should use a wet mop to clean the soap. You can use good quality cleaning products found in the market.

You can get back the shine on your floor by polishing it with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda. You can also choose to use commercial strength cleaners. You can use a cleanser made by Pledge, Pine-Sol, Swiffer, Zep or Lest oil.

Removing tough stains

When there are tough stains on the floor, the first step would be to clean it right away, before it dries off. Use the following techniques to remove stains:

  • Use a paste of baking soda and water to get rid of stains from spilling wine or foods like tomatoes.
  • For getting rid of scuff marks use WD-40 or jojoba oil.
  • Use solvents such as mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol to remove stains from crayons, markers, makeup, etc.
  • You should always use a doormat. It will keep away dirt and chemicals from LVP.

You should never use wax on such type of floor. Place your furniture on felt pads so that there is no scratch mark on the floor. Always use a soft bristle brush to take off stains from the floors; don’t use scouring powder or nylon scouring pads.

You should never use a steamer on vinyl floors. Moisture may get trapped in between planks and cause damage to the floor. You should also refrain from using ammonia and bleach as these may deteriorate the top layer.

Vinyl is waterproof. It feels soft under your feet and so is very comfortable to walk on. It doesn’t change its shape even in extreme temperatures. It also resists dents, stains, and scratches from your pets. With so many benefits, no wonder it’s one of the most popular choices for flooring today.

You should get into the habit of using a soft broom regularly on the vinyl floor to keep it in good shape. Follow the recommended techniques for cleaning discussed here and you will be able to maintain the shine of your floors all the time.
