 remedies for ringwormHow do ringworms get its name? Are ringworms actually caused by worms or any kind of parasite? To answer both the questions, ringworms are caused by a kind of fungus known as tinea. It can be found in tissues of your nails and hair. How can you identify this condition? It is fairly easy to spot as it causes a red, itchy, scaly, patch on your skin. With time it resembles round circles and hence the name “ringworm” comes from this.

You can get ringworm anywhere on your skin. It can be called by different names, it totally depends on the area on which it develops. When it develops in the groin area, it is known as jock itch, when it develops on your foot between your toes, it is known as athlete’s foot.

While ringworms can be irritating and difficult to get rid of, it responds well to home remedies, considering, of course, you keep making a consistent effort to get rid of the ringworm.

Top Home Remedies to Get Rid of Ring Worm

There are specifically three types of fungi that can lead to ringworm, they are Microsporum, Trichophyton, and epidermophyton. Ringworm is contagious and one person can get infected by the direct contact with either an infected person or an animal. Sometimes the spores in the soil also contain fungi and humans and animals when they come in direct contact the soil get infected. The very reason you should wear gardening gloves when handling soil.

You can actually see the back of ringworms with natural remedies. One small tip would be to continue with the home remedies for ringworm even when they have cleared up, just to make sure that it does not make a recurrence.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one remedy which can cure a number of illnesses, you can also cure ringworm with this easy hack. Why apple cider vinegar works? Apple cider vinegar is brimming with many natural acids and probiotics that can combat fungal infections effectively, such as Candida spp.

Get a cotton ball dip it in apple cider vinegar and gently rub the ringworm area at least two to three times a day until you get relief and the area heals up. Remember to do a patch test before trying out any home remedy. Sometimes if you have sensitive skin you may experience allergic reactions. Try with a small amount and then if your skin reacts well to the treatment continue with the remedy and you will soon get positive results.

2. Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil has anti-fungal properties along with antibacterial, antiviral and antiprotozoal properties. No wonder it is an effective cure for ringworm. Essential oils are pretty strong and sometimes you need a kind of carrier oil such as coconut oil to dilute the strength of the essential oil. Coconut oil, itself has anti-fungal properties and it can make this remedy even more potent. 

You can make an anti-fungal thrice as strong remedy by adding oregano oil.  Here is the concoction that works really well to control ringworm, blend three drops of oil of oregano and two drops of tea tree oil and add to that a small amount of coconut oil. After blending it store it in a glass jar for later use. Always try to use top quality organic essential oils mix and remember to always store in glass bottles. Apply the mixture at least two to three times per day to get great results.

3. Garlic and Honey

This is one of the most effective home remedies for ringworm. Not only for ringworm but it can serve as a home remedy for a number of other fungal infections as well. Garlic has tremendous anti-fungal properties which can help cure stubborn ringworm infection.  These powerful agents are highly effective in curing ringworm altogether. Combine this with olive oil and honey and it becomes an incredible concoction!

Just get a few raw garlic together with three tablespoons of olive oil and another three tablespoons of honey. Crush the garlic pods to extract the juice. Blend in the honey with the olive oil and honey. Apply it to the areas affected by ringworm. Cover the affected area with a bandage. Leave it for an hour and then wash it with lukewarm water. Repeat this process at least two to three times to get great results.

  1. Mustard Seeds

Mustard seeds help can add that much-needed zesty flavor to your food. And that’s not all this easily available spice can do wonders for your health as well, especially when it comes to finding an effective cure for ringworm infection as well. It is particularly great in curing the itchiness as well.  This remedy works because it curbs the urge to itch and itching can irritate your skin and make it spread further. Using mustard seeds is a great way to stop the itch right in its tracks.

Here is what you need to do to cure your ringworm. Grind one tablespoon of mustard seeds into a coarse powder. Combine it with two tablespoons of warm water.  Next apply this paste generously on the affected area. Then cover it a bandage to hold it in. Get this done at least twice per day to cure the infection.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel is known as the plant of immortality for nothing. It has a solution to most of the common ailments.  It is anti-fungal, antiseptic, anti-bacterial, and also anti-microbial properties that can help cure numerous skin conditions like ringworm. It is particularly soothing for itchy, inflamed skin.

Cut off chunks of the fleshier part of Aloe Vera leaf. Scoop the gel out and directly apply it to the infection. There, how easy was it? Keep it for at least twenty to thirty minutes before washing it off with water. Repeat this remedy for at least three times a week to get effective results. 

So you see, getting rid of ringworm isn’t that hard and you can do it with potent home remedies for ringworm. Be consistent with your efforts and you will be happy to notice a marked improvement in just a few days.
