Jim Stowers, Jr. founded American Century Investments® in 1958 to help people improve their financial position. Jim and Virginia dedicated their personal assets to create the Stowers Institute for Medical Research , which is dedicated to improving quality of life by researching and uncovering the causes, treatment, and prevention of gene-based diseases. The Stowers Institute for Medical Research is just one piece of what Jim and Virginia hope will become a “bio-med” valley in Kansas City, bringing growth, discoveries, and new excitement to the scientific community and ultimately, to humanity.
This is why this year, The 2014 American Century Golf Championships in Lake Tahoe July 15-20th, celebrated the legacy of the late Jim Stowers, American Century Investments, and the firm’s dedication to furthering medical research and fighting disease. In fact, the tournament is a huge, star-studded event, bringing out celebrities from the sports world to the big screen out to support this wonderful cause.
