If you are one of the many women out there who are torn between wanting to look elegant and chic on a daily basis and dreaming about ditching the dress code and wearing your comfy pajamas to work, we have some good news – it’s not impossible to look elegant and feel comfortable at the same time. Whether you’re tired of wearing stilettos which occasionally make your feet bleed and getting up an hour earlier to blow dry your hair every morning, or you’re just looking to change your style and impress your co-workers at the brand new job, the guide we shared below if for you!
Stick to neutrals
The easiest way to ensure that your outfit is classy is to stick with solid neutrals. This way, you can easily add a pop of color through a lipstick, or an accessory, and turn simple into classy or trendy. Bold lip colors such as red or everyone’s favorite this season – fuchsia, in combination with a comfortable black dress or a beige skirt with a basic white shirt tucked in, can make you look like you came out of a legal drama such as “Suits” or “Law & Order”. Typical neutrals are white, beige, navy blue, gray and black. Of course, you don’t necessarily have to stick with those or dress head-to-toe in one color, but make sure your closet has enough of these hues for safe choices on the days you don’t feel creative enough to dig into your closet and match your items.
Accessorize
Adding the right piece of accessory to a casual outfit can totally turn things around. The trick is to not overdo it, so you don’t look like a Christmas tree or a Brazilian Carnival dancer. Add small accents such as an animal-print belt, a paisley scarf, or simple jewelry, and transform a solid outfit into an eye-catching one, without losing the sense of sophistication. Everyday outfits can look elegant and classy with just the right dose of accessorizing. However, there is a fine line between enough and going overboard with accessories, so make sure not to cross it.
Rompers
It’s been a couple of years since the big comeback of rompers, and they don’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Why should they? It’s a one-piece ready outfit, available in a myriad of different styles and suitable for literally any body type. Although there’s a constant dilemma among women whether jumpsuits make them look Taylor Swift-like stylish or like a 5-year-olds at a hot dog eating contest, it just depends on the rest of your look. If you wear them with heels and pearls, you won’t have to worry about appearing boyish or underage. Nowadays, every quality clothing line includes different romper models, so wait no more and get a couple of comfy onesies you can rock to both work and cocktails after, on your best and worst days.
If you do wear heels, make them thick
Yes, stilettos are bad for your health, exhausting and totally not worth it. Putting up with pain just for the sake of elegance is a thing of the past, so stop torturing yourself with uncomfortable shoes. There are plenty of other options which are elegant and trendy, but won’t make your feet sore. Sneakers and flats are no longer considered exclusively informal footwear – it’s all about comfort. However, you don’t have to give up on heels completely – there are tons of models with thick heels which are actually comfortable!
Style your hair
If your hair looks good, your outfit will easily concur. If you opt for basic outfits and simple makeup, invest some time in styling your hair in order to achieve a sophisticated, yet effortless look, every single day. You don’t have to wake up at 5 am to wash, blow dry and style your hair every day – a sleek bun or a high ponytail can look ultra-modern, formal and chic at the same time, yet they take five minutes.
Contrary to popular belief, elegant outfits don’t have to break the bank, nor your neck (read: high heels accidents). You want to look casually elegant every day of the week, without feeling discomfort in every part of your body? Take note of the tips above and find your win-win combination, a perfect balance between elegant and comfortable style.

This line is often difficult to find, I love comfortable clothes, but it is often not elegant. For example, bras made of 100% cotton give me great comfort every day, but this is not the kind of underwear that you wear under an elegant dress. It’s better to go without it:)
