There are many essentials that you should always carry on your journeys, so you can be prepared for anything that might happen! This article will cover the essential safety items to pack when traveling. Here are some of the things to have with you: a first aid kit, sunscreen, insect repellent, batteries for electronics, and more!
First Aid Kit
A first aid kit is essential because you never know when you will need it. It could be for a scraped knee, bug bite, or if something unexpected happens! You can buy a first aid kit or make your own (you just need to be sure the items inside are not expired). Try to get wound care supplies that you’ll put into your first aid kit, as well. These supplies include bandages, gauze pad, tape, adhesive medical strips (such as Band-Aid), antiseptic wipes/cleaners/powders, disinfectant spray for wounds, and waxed cotton twine.
It’s also good to carry some sort of pain reliever (e.g., aspirin or ibuprofen). You never know when a headache might hit you, so it’s good to be prepared!
Flashlight or Headlamp
You should always have a flashlight or headlamp with you in case of emergencies. You can carry both types of flashlights if needed; however, the headlamps are usually preferred because they leave your hands free and give you some light to see with!
In some cases, it may be preferable to carry a lantern instead of a flashlight or headlamp. Lanterns were popular before the invention of the electric light bulb and are still used today for certain purposes – mainly if you need a lot of light or want to provide small amounts of light over long periods.
Multi-Tool or Swiss Army Knife
It’s always great to have something to help you out in whatever you’re doing, and a good multi-tool is the perfect thing! This type of tool typically includes: pliers, wire cutter, saw blade, can opener, screwdriver (small and large), bottle/can opener, corkscrew, toothpick, tweezers, and key ring.
Besides its functionality, it’s also a great safety thing to have on you at all times. If you need to cut or break something in an emergency, this item will come in very handy!
Phone with Charger
If something happens, and you need to call for help, you will not be able to do so if your phone is out of battery power. It’s always good to carry a charger with you as well as your phone or have easy access to one. You can recharge your phone at many places such as gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, and hotels.
Besides making phone calls, having a working cell phone with you is also helpful for emergencies in other ways. Some phones have a flashlight option on them, some phones can be used to call 911 even if they don’t have a SIM card installed (in case you need to make an emergency call but don’t have your phone on you), and some phones offer GPS so that if someone is lost, they can send a location signal to track down where they are.
The effectiveness of a portable charger depends on the size and its capacity (a bigger capacity means more power will be stored). Some of them are really lightweight and easy to carry around. Portable chargers are also great because they can be plugged in to recharge, so you’ll never have to worry about your phone dying!
Water Bottle
Being dehydrated is not good for your health or energy, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Carry a water bottle with you at all times, so you can stay hydrated on the go! Dehydration can lead to other health problems, so it is important to stay hydrated at all times – especially when exercising and working out – because over time this can cause you damage.
If you’re going anywhere that has a lot of walking involved (such as a theme park or hiking), be sure to take breaks and drink water throughout the day!
Storm Whistle
If something bad happens while you’re outside (e.g., thunder, tornado), it can be really hard to hear someone calling for help over all of the noise. A great way to signal others is by using a storm whistle because they are extremely loud and will get people’s attention no matter how far away they are!
You should always have one of these with you when going out into the world to help you signal others in case of an emergency.
There are many essential safety items that you should always carry on your journeys, so you can be prepared for anything that might happen! Here are some of the most important ones, but make sure to pack whatever else you may need depending on where you’re going and what you’ll be doing. Being prepared is the best way to stay safe while traveling!

Awesome, this is very informative and helpful. I’m also using safety items such as custom luggage tags for my bags.
