Let’s face it, once the Halloween decorations hit store shelves, that pretty much means the holiday season has begun. And with the holiday season, from Halloween to New Year’s Eve, comes holiday parties and festivities. Whether you are attending or hosting this holiday season, wine is almost always on the menu at any fete.
I’ve fallen in love with Crios wines so this holiday season, this Spanish libation will be gracing my holiday tables!
Crios is a family-owned brand by Susana Balbo, Argentina’s leading and most innovative winemaker. Crios in Spanish means “offspring” and was created by Susana as a tribute to her son, José, and daughter, Ana. Nowadays, Susana’s children have joined the family business and add their young-adult point of view to the wines that are dedicated to their family bond.
Crios wines are harvested from specific areas in Mendoza and Salta in Argentina, where grapes are optimal for the fruit-forward style of Crios. Contrary to many entry level brands, Crios wines have a background, a story behind. Each wine carries an inspirational message that also represents either a milestone in Susana’s personal and professional life or the story about how the wine was made.
Boating delicious Malbecs, Red blends and whites, Crios is the perfect pairing at any meal! My personal fave is their Cabernet Sauvignon, such a great wine this time of year!
CRIOS TORRONTES
Susana Balbo transformed Torrontés from a common blending grape to Argentina’s star white wine. Her first vintage broke the mold and proved Torrontés’ premium character, defined by its crisp notes of white flower, pear and ripe peach. It’s dry, crispy and aromatic.
CRIOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Hi Carolyn. Great post! I love wine and always try to learn a little bit more about varietals and wine regions (Still not even near of becoming an expert, though) I’ve tried Argentina´s Malbec before…but I’m curious for that Rosé of Malbec! What’s its inspirational message? You only explained the Cab Sav… It must surely have some of that Latin American spice! I’ll probably try it this holiday season.
