Congratulations dsp08c! Random.org has chosen you as this week’s winner!!
My favorite green tip is to recycle the Christmas tree.
We put our gifts in gift bags and use the same ones year after year instead of throwing away wrapping paper!! Thanks.
I make sure to take my reusable bags for Christmas shopping, not just to the grocery store.
We cut our own tree from a local farm. After the season we get it chipped for parks and trails.
Reuse gift bags, boxes, and name tags.
We use energy saving lights, do not leave them on all night either despite how pretty they look!, i have containers full of gift bags that get recycled over and over(even tissue if i can), kids make creative gifts with bottles and such and little craft helpers from the dollar store( have made shake em up snow globes etc.), make gift cards from old card fronts, use the trimmed branches from our tree each year to make more usable center pieces and hangings for the doors. I do not send many cards through the mail either instead i send e-cards online to people. I also participate in cookie swaps so less cooking and waste for me and yet i get lots of delicious treats in return!
Buy Organic and Local Foods for the Holiday Feast. Not only does it taste better, but I will be doing my part for the planet too. Other than that recyling wrapping papers for gifts and buying energy saving holiday lights.
recycle different shaped boxes for gifts

Make your own decorations….. We make wreaths and I always make table decorations for my dining room table with berries, pinecones, and different plants from outside. It is pretty and free and decomposes naturally. I am not a fan of plastic, so this takes care of that. My daughter has her own home this year and she is doing the same thing now for Christmas.
LED lights inside and out, all on timer – on when sun goes down, off by 11:00 (I guess that’s 2 green hints!)
Wrap presents in Newspaper!
reuse gift bags
re use and re cycle thanks for the giveaway minsthins at optonline dot net
Trade in your old Christmas lights for energy saving LED lights. If you want to save even more energy you can get solar powered LED lights that last for years and run solely on the power of the sun! They save you money and help save the environment!
My green tip is to keep your Christmas lights to a minimum. and turn them off during the day
I like to use reusable gift bags instead of wrapping paper. Thanks for the giveaway.
My holiday green tip is to reuse gift bags, tissue paper, bows-anything that is still in good condition to be reused for the next holiday season.
My tip would be instead of buying a Holiday wreath if you dont have one and save yourself like $20 or more take a walk into the woods and see what you can find from Nature to make yourself a special lovely Holiday wreath

reuse gift wraps from past years!
gift bags are great. They are reusable & no paper scraps to clean up!
We like to make our own wrapping paper–cut festive potato stamps and use them on kraft paper or inside-out paper grocery bags. It’s fun for kids and it gives your wrapping a unique, rustic look.
We reuse our gift bags every year. It has become a tradition and we look forward to seeing them again. We also include fair trade chocolate products at our gatherings.
The most used “green” tip that we always do is to reuse gift bags and undamaged wrapping paper from the year before. It saves us alot of money and it is alot less waste. We have also used Newspaper comics in the past for childrens gifts. They usually love to look at the comics once they open their gift too 🙂

Reuse boxes and bags from gifts.
holiday green tip–look for fair trade gifts
We recycle our tree ourselves by putting it outside during the winter and then cutting and composting it!
A number of years ago, I made fabric gift bags. Every year we reuse the bags under the tree. It saves on the environment, and it saves money.
our family tries to always reuse gift bags and wrapping paper.
We don’t put up lights outside anymore because it uses too much power. We just use decorative items that don’t light up!

A great holiday green tip is to use a power strip for all the lights you have hanging up outside, and inside your home. Once you are done with them just hit the switch and presto energy won’t be wasted and you don’t have to keep putting cords in back and forth.

I always reuse wrapping paper!
We put our Christmas lights on a timer so they come on and go off at a certain time to save energy. Thanks!
my fave green tip is to decorate with popcorn strings
i know its silly, but i always save gift wrap and bags to reuse later
I asked someone to make me reusable gift bags out of cloth. They look like pillowcases in various sizes. They can be reused over and over again. When I give gifts in them people are very excited about the bag!! Last way longer than paper gift bags!
I like to use reuseable baskets for gifts.
Decorate with used wine and champagne bottles filled with twinkle lights!

My holiday green tip – at long last! – is to send e-greetings vs. paper ones. It took me a while to accept this as OK, but I recently had to sort through hundreds of saved cards from over the years… and discard them! What a colossal waste indeed.
My favorite green tip is to make tree ornaments from reusable materials like pieces of cloth, broken parts of toys. I just glue them to a styrofoam ball and hang on the tree. My little ones enjoy making them and each year we have new ornaments to add to the tree!
I like using funny papers for wrapping paper
I use an artificial tree, the last one I had I used it for 9 yrs and my mother in law gave me hers last year and now I use it, and newspaper makes good wrapping paper especially the comic section for kids presents and after the season is over I can recycle it.
Switch your christmas lights to energy efficient LED’s and put your lights on a timer so they don’t get left on all night by accident. Thanks for the chance to win.
Reuse gift bags from previous years as opposed to wrapping presents!
try wrapping presents with resusable bags or scarves instead of paper
I recycle everything, and there’s a lot to recycle this time of year
I recycle just about everything and compose like mad!
I reuse everything I can-paper, ribbon, bows, etc. Even better, I give gifts in reusable tote bags! Thanks!
looks good
Recycle Christmas bags…..this is all I use anymore!
Fabric gift bags are the way to go green. They can be used over and over again.
Several years ago I made cloth gift bags with drawstring tops on them for us to ‘wrap’ our Christmas presents in. They are in festive fabrics & are a great way to limit the amount of paper that gets wasted each year. If enough people did this we could save a tree or two!
Thanks for doing this contest, Carolyn! Excited about all the great green tips so far!
I MAKE CHRISTMAS BAGS FROM REMMANTS AND OR BUY FABRIC REALLY CHEAP AND SEW THE CHRISTMAS BAGS
We never use wrapping paper…gift bags(which are re-used) only.

We always reuse gift boxes and gift bags.
My holiday green tip is save as much christmas wrap for next year, there are lots of packing that can be used for other things through out the year thanks.
My holiday green tip is to use an artificial Christmas tree, instead of a “real” tree! Thanks.

Use it up, wear it our, make it do, do without–that’s a depression era admonition but it still works today for
those of us who are trying to make holiday expenditures modest.
I Liked you on FB. My favorite green tip is that all year long when I got small boxes in the mail, I saved them and I am going to use them as boxes for gifts. Thank you!
Ooh, that DVD sounds interesting.
My holiday “green” tip: skip the greeting cards, or at least use cards made with recycled materials. Postcards are good, too (they use less paper!).
Also, serve vegan food! It’s eco-friendly!
For several years I have gotten a live Christmas tree that can be planted after the holiday.
we reuse boxes and bows from gifts
Reuse gift bags, boxes, and wrapping paper. Also, cook delicious vegan meals during the holidays that are good for you, animals, and the environment!
Reuse boxes and paper to make greeting cards and gift wrap. If you don’t have any, try to pick up some magazines or old cards from a thrift store.
My favorite green tip for the holidays is to recycle as much as you can, especially holiday gift bags!
My holiday green tip is to give eco-friendly and fair trade gifts!
I always save any boxes so we can use them again .
Drinking water from my Brita filter is better for the environment without all the garbage of plastic water bottles. A green tip that I do everyday year-round! 😉
My favorite green routine is shopping with my own strong, reusable grocery bags! Definitely easier and I can pack more in them than the flimsy plastic bags. 🙂
A holiday green tip I like is to make and use (and re-use forever!) fabric gift bags. They last much longer than regular gift bags, and they feel even more festive to me, maybe because of the extra care and love that was put into them when they were made. 🙂
