The Meat Lover’s Meatless Cookbook is no ordinary vegetarian cookbook! By a meat lover for meat lovers, MLMC dishes up 52 menus — one for every week of the year — to help die hard meat eaters take a break, for both their health and the planet. No dogma or rules — just really good chow that happens to be meatless.
Author Kim O’Donnel really hits the nail on the head with her recipes along with the cool style of writing and look of the book. Even the fonts and artwork fall in line with the theme, making it feel like you’re about to cook up some hearty food. And you do! It just so happens to be vegetarian.
Yes, there are some non-vegan recipes but the book is great and has plenty for vegans, as well as gluten free cooks to choose from. I really think it’s a lot of fun and a great angle for a cookbook, especially that the recipe are broken up according to season and recipes are presented menu style!
Here are some of the highlights:
- Tempeh Hoagie-letta with Kale Chips
- Jig-Inducing Falafel Burgers with Oven Sweet Potato Fries
- Southern Red Rice with Roasted Green Bean, Mushroom & Shallot Medley
- Pepita Crusted Tofu with Dino-Mash
- Black Bean and Sweet Potato Chili with Skillet Corn Bread
- Slurpy Pan Asian Noodles
- And more!
