How to keep your Dog Healthy while on Vacation

keep your dog healthy while you're away on vacationIt isn’t always easy taking your dog on vacation. Often times, dogs need even more help than children. However, dogs can also make your trip wonderful and even more exciting. You can never feel lonely with your beloved four-legged friend at your side. When your vacations are dog-friendly, they can make your trip a lot of fun. However, this does not mean your trip will be incredibly easy. You will need to work extra hard to make sure your dog is healthy throughout your trip.

1. Take your Dog to the Vet

A few weeks before your trip, it is a good idea to go get your dog checked over. Make sure he has his shots and is in good health. Also see if your vet has any advice or medication that you should take with you, just in case of complications. It’s also important to bring along nutritious pet supplements, such as The Missing Link, which has a wide array of SuperFood pet supplements to choose from.

2. Make Sure You Have Something to Transport your Dog In

This will depend on the size your dog. If you are lucky you will be able to get away with a small bag. If your dog is bigger in size you will have to get a comfortable crate.

3. Speak to Everyone

This means you should contact your hotel, airplane, bus, and even Uber driver to see if they can accommodate your dog. You do not want to compromise your dog’s health by taking them to a new hotel that may not be suitable for your dog.

4. Do Not Leave Your Dog Alone for more than Fifteen Minutes

Remember that your dog is in a completely new place. Spending time with your dog will greatly reduce its separation anxiety.

5. Keep the Same Habits As Much as Possible

Bring some of your dog’s favorite toys to keep them occupied in stressful situations. Also, if possible, take your dog’s food so they do not have to eat new food. Your dog will be able to sense your anxiety. If you want your dog to stay healthy and positive you need to show to radiate positivity.

6. Once You Reach Your Destination, go on a Long Walk with Your Dog

Even if you have only been driving a few hours, your dog is probably tired and needs some fresh air. It will help your dog’s sanity and increase their health if you go on a long walk with them when you reach your destination. Furthermore, it will help them become acclimated.

7. Stay Vigilant

You never know when a new smell or sound will startle your dog. It is up to you to become their eyes and ears and anticipate anything that will upset them.

Do not force it. If you cannot find the right accommodations for your dog, you can always place them in a kennel. The staff at the kennel will make sure your dog is well fed, loved, and taken care of. However, this may be an expensive option for some. Make sure you plan far in advance so the kennels know to reserve a place for your dog. In some cases, this is a better option than bringing your dog along with you, no matter how disappointing it may be for you.

Conclusion

Bringing a dog with you while on vacation can be a chore, but it doesn’t have to. If you manage to follow the tips in this article, your dog should enjoy a happy and healthy vacation along with you. Have fun!

The most important thing is to watch your dog, do not forget to constantly give her water and never leave one. Most often you go to a warm climate, where high temperatures may not play the best role in the health of your dog. You must be lenient with your dog to keep him healthy
