3 Ways Working Mommies Can Stay In-Tune With Their Kids

busy mom tipsMore than 70 percent of women in the U.S. today with children under the age of 18 are working or looking for work, according to 2019 U.S. Bureau of Labor data. But while there are more working moms now than ever before, finding the balance between work and taking care of a family can still be challenging.

Even if you’re balancing work with toting your little ones to school and soccer practice, getting dinner on the table, and even tucking them in at night with ease, this still may not be enough to stay in tune with your kids. Keep reading to learn three tips that will help you stay connected and in-tune with your little ones.

Schedule One-on-One Time with Your Kids

While you’re rushing from one thing to the next, you may be spending time with your kids, but it isn’t necessarily quality time. Even if you work from home, time spent with your kids is likely spent also answering emails on the fly or thinking about what else you need to do today.

That’s why it’s so important to combat this by scheduling quality one-on-one time with your little ones. If you have more than one child, take time once every couple of weeks to take each one out on his or her own. Go to dinner or even just for ice cream, and talk with them about what is going on in their lives. You’ll find out what you may have been missing in the rush to get everything done, and they’ll feel loved, appreciated, and valued.

Don’t Forget Your Own Well-Being

One-on-one time with your kids is important, but so is one-on-one time with yourself. As a busy working mom, your health and well-being are likely some of the last things on your mind. But if you aren’t charged, focused, and, most importantly, healthy, you won’t have the energy to take care of your kids and still perform well at work.

There are so many reasons to take breaks that help you focus on your mental and physical health. You should take at least a few minutes each day to relax or do something you enjoy. Every couple of weeks, you should take a longer break that helps you reset and refocus your energy back on your work and responsibilities.

Get Your Kids Involved

Being a busy, successful working mom is a wonderful opportunity to teach your children the value of hard work. Watching you take time to focus on growing your business will teach them dedication. Taking classes or studying to improve your skills will teach them the importance of life-long learning. Placing value on separating work time from family time will show them how important it is to find balance in their lives.

If you run your own business, you even have a unique opportunity to get your kids involved. Young children can learn simple skills like counting your inventory, while older children might like learning about how you make ads or even how you choose your products. While they’ll see it all as fun, you’ll be teaching them important skills that can help them succeed later in life.

If you don’t run your own business yet, the desire to teach your children these skills and values might be just the push you need to finally take the leap and become your own boss. Amway can help empower you with the tools and products you need to get started. Worried that Amway is a scam? Don’t be. Unlike pyramid schemes that only allow “business owners” to earn by recruiting new sellers and saturating the market, Amway’s business owners primarily make their profits by selling high-quality products directly to their customers.

How to Succeed at Work While Staying In-Tune With Your Kids

Staying in-tune with your little ones while also balancing a career doesn’t have to feel impossible. By scheduling one-on-one time with each child, getting your kids involved in your work, and not forgetting the importance of mommy time, you can keep everyone happy and healthy without sacrificing your own personal success.
