dominican republicWhen it comes to Caribbean holiday destinations, the Dominican Republic is the most popular and the most visited. Arguably, this is due to the endless stretch of white-sandy beaches and palm trees that line the coast of this beautiful country. In addition, the Dominican Republic has cemented its place as one of the top tourist destinations in the Caribbean due to the fact that there are endless things to see, do and experience within the country.

You can spend your days whale-watching, snorkeling with stunning fish, or watching birds of prey swoop above the Punta Cana national park while you’re in the region. There are plenty of Caribbean cuisines to explore as well as locally-produced rum.

The best of the Dominican Republic will be showcased in this itinerary from the country’s breathtaking landscapes, relaxing on its sandy beaches, and exploring the country’s endless adventures.

Things to See & Do in the Dominican Republic

Taste the Country’s Famous Rum

A visit to the Dominican Republic will be incomplete if you have not tried the region’s renowned rums. In the country, you could stop by Puerto Plata’s Brugal Rum Distillery, they’ve been making rum since 1888.

Sand Surfing in the Dunes

Tourists flock to the southern destination of Dunas de Bani. The area offers a one-of-a-kind appearance from the beach, and you may spot herons and lizards. You can sand surf to your heart’s delight at this spot, which has dunes that rise 35 meters in height.

La Plaza de La Cueva Hike

Check out La Plaza and La Cueva if you’re in the beautiful province of Barahona. A great blend of obstacle course, natural blue ponds, and green landscape is provided by the two-day tour in a magnificent forest.

Explore the waterfalls

You may find the twenty-seven waterfalls in the Dominican Republic’s Damajaqua Cascades quite a thrill too. The activities in Punta Cana are not limited to hiking, climbing, jumping, and swimming your way through the natural splendor of waterfalls. It’s the utmost thrill ride.

With multiple pools and cascades flowing from varying heights, the waterfalls are breathtaking, with numerous pools and cascades plunging from different heights.

Where to Stay

Choosing where to stay in the Dominican Republic can make or break your vacation. A delightful trip may quickly turn into a nightmare if even the smallest of details, such as booking the wrong hotel, are overlooked. With the breathtaking sceneries, the main draw of the beach is the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino.

The all-inclusive resort includes everything a traveler might want, including a theater, a gym, and restaurants. In addition, the resort has an on-site casino, which most people are after for unwinding an adventurous day. It’s close to the sandy beach, turquoise water, and an abundance of lush flora, all of which make this a truly unique site and visual experience.

This hotel has almost everything you need to start your day with a cup of coffee. The Water Park, including pools, is a favorite for children, while the Vibe club is popular with teenagers. Adults have their resort section, which includes a bar, futons and swimming pool. The 31,000-square-foot infinity pool, surrounded by six smaller pools, is a standout feature of the resort; you don’t have to break your back getting into the water.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort offers an unbeatable exquisite design, awe-inspiring views, a tropical vibe, and tropical rooms. Expect a wide range of high-end amenities, an innovative entertainment concept, and mouth-watering delicacies. The hotel has you covered in the food and accommodation; all that is left is to book your stay for the vacation.

How to travel to the Dominican Republic

In the Dominican Republic Tourism Official Website you could find all the information you need to travel to this amazing country.

The Dominican Republic boasts seven International Airports, each on a point near the coastline and your favorite tourist destinations. The Dominican Republic is the Caribbean’s second-largest country; hence it’s important to plan your vacation, including flying into the nearest airport close to your preferred destination. Ensure to check the distance from your hotel to the airport prior to your flight.

Passengers traveling business or first class have access to duty-free shops, restaurants, and lounges at every airport. Arrive before the airport because long lines and delays at the check-in desk are common.

Of the seven international airports on offer in the DR, the busiest is Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).

  • If your final destination is in Cap Cana, Bávaro, Punta Cana, and Uvero Alto, this is your best bet.
  • However, if your ideal place to stay is in Samaná or Santo Domingo, avoid this airport.
  • Playa Bavaro Punta Cana is just a stone’s throw away when you land. Depending on where you are staying in Playa Bavaro, the price for a taxi from the airport to your final destination will be approximately $30 or the equivalent of 1,585 Dominican pesos.

This mammoth of an airport in the Dominican Republic receives about three million people a year. It ranks second among the most engaged airports in the Caribbean, and Latin America included with such figures.

There are two terminals at PUJ, owned privately by the Puntacana Group. They have more than 20 airlines, direct flights internationally, and domestically.

The country has been open to tourists without any problems dating back to July 2020. Since then, Punta Cana has gradually eased its Covid restrictions, making the Dominican Republic an accessible destination even in 2022! However, Punta Cana’s Covid-19 safety standards remain in effect for all visitors there.

Travelers’ health and well-being are a top priority for resorts. Excursions have sanitary regulations, and airport security measures the temperature of everyone who arrives. All these measures are to keep tourists safe while on vacation in Punta Cana and prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The Dominican government also developed a long-term rehabilitation strategy for tourism, demonstrating the country’s dependence on the tourism industry. In addition, it shows that the Dominican Republic’s borders will remain open to tourists and measures to contain the Omicron variant in place. Several resorts offer free antigen tests for guests going home after their respective stays.

If you are to travel to the Dominican Republic, a negative COVID-19 test is a requirement. However, a COVID vaccination certificate or a vaccination passport is not required.

A traveler can show a vaccination card at least three weeks after the final dose; they will be considered vaccinated.

However, we recommend you keep an eye on the newest Dominican Republic travel updates and contact your local embassy for the most up-to-date information as the requirements may change quickly.

I hope you like this guide and it will be nice for me if it’s helpful for you and your trip to The Dominican Republic!
