Actor Ed Begley, Jr. Plugs-in the “First” Ceremonial Charge
on a New Plug-in Prius
Actor and environmental activist Ed Begley, Jr. made the first plug-in today at LAcarGUY’s ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the first open-access electric vehicle charging station in the country. The ceremony took place at LAcarGUY’s Toyota of Hollywood (first Toyota dealership in the country dating back to 1957) – the first of many installs LAcarGUY will be making at its dealerships throughout Los Angeles. Begley, Jr. plugged in the all-new plug-in Prius (available in 2012).
Starting today, anyone with a plug-in or hybrid vehicle manufactured in 2010 and beyond, will be able to drive up to LAcarGuy’s Toyota of Hollywood and Toyota Santa Monica to get charged. Additional charging stations at Lexus Santa Monica and Fisker Santa Monica will be live soon.
LAcarGuy is the first automotive dealer in the U.S. to offer the Level 2 SAE J-1772, the new industry standard for electric chargers. The charger is compatible with all electric hybrid and plug-in vehicles, and will be open to the entire community.
“LAcarGUY is proud to be the first U.S. automotive dealership to offer the only industry-approved electric charging stations on the market,” said President of LAcarGUY, Mike Sullivan. “This is yet another step for us to support the community with sustainable options. It’s our commitment to ensuring that our daily driving habits contribute to a healthier planet.”
