Troubleshooting Trampoline: Common Issues and Solutions

trampoline safetyTrampolines are fun. They allow us to experience the joy of jumping for years (and some even decades) to come. Yet, when it ages, it starts to show wear and tear (like anything, really). Which is why your trampoline may need some TLC. From trampoline spare parts to oiling and using anchors, here are our solutions for the most common trampoline issues.

Issue 1: Trampoline Bounce is not as Good as it Used to Be

The reason why kids and child minded adults love trampolining is the bounce. When the bounce is good, you can feel weightlessness in a way that allows you to (almost) defy gravity. Yet, over the years, even the best bounce becomes… well, less bouncy. This usually means that either the springs or the mat (or both) have worn out and it’s time to replace the old parts with the new ones. Ideally, the trampoline manufacturer that you’ve bought the trampoline from is nice enough to sell trampoline spare parts in their online shop. However, this isn’t always the case. In that case, it’s best to measure the springs and/or the mat and find an online store that sells springs/a mat in the same or similar size. If the store has customer support, it’s always a good idea to consult with them first to confirm the compatibility and safety.

Issue 2: Trampoline is Noisy and Squaky

Next issue may persist for several reasons. Sometimes, however, it’s not even clear what the reason really is. While some manufacturers focus on making the trampoline as silent as possible, others do not. And, regardless of the quality, jumping on a trampoline will make some noises. It’s inevitable. However, if there are particularly high or squeaky noises, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Investigate the source of the sound
  2. Understand what’s causing the noise
  3. Use oil to grease the part or replace it by getting a spare part

You can also ask for more tips from the manufacturer. Chances are they’ve had similar cases before and thus they can give you practical advice on solving the issue.

Issue 3: Trampoline Does Not Stay in Place during Strong Winds

Last but not least, it’s time to talk about the windy season. If you live in an area where strong winds are not something you need to be concerned about, you can skip this. However, if you are worried about a trampoline flying off the yard (or even falling to its side), you might want to read our tips. First off, if you received any anchors with your trampoline, USE THEM. They are there for a reason. The trampoline anchors are usually easy to attach and assemble, so this shouldn’t take you more than 10-20 minutes. You can also buy and attach extra anchors for extra safety.

Now, if you are still in the choosing stage of a trampoline, we recommend you to opt for a product that has a heavy frame. The sturdier the frame, the better it will stay in place during strong winds. Naturally, if you are expecting a hurricane, it may be that you simply have to disassemble the trampoline. If that’s the case, follow the instructions in an opposite order and store everything so that re-assembling it will be as easy as possible.

What trampoline question would you like to get answered?

In this article, we’ve responded to common issues regarding trampolines. What kind of concerns do you have in terms of your own bouncy backyard platform? Let us know!
