The 5 Old Seaside Towns That Are Now Becoming Our 2020 Staycation Destinations

Since lockdown put an end to all our European holidays and travel plans, it’s no surprise that everyone’s thoughts are turning to our local seaside towns and resorts for staycation trips.

And as this may be the only chance Brits have to see some sand this year, Regatta has rounded up some of the top seaside spots that are worth visiting and getting your fresh air fix.

Salcombe

Salcombe is a beautiful town located in Devon that has spectacular coastal views which wouldn’t look entirely out of place in Southern Italy. Not only do the views make it the perfect destination for long, scenic walks, but it’s also a watersports haven and has plenty of white-sand beaches set against clear blue waters ideal for surfing.

Portobello Beach

One to head for the sunsets, Portobello beach is a great spot to day trip from Edinburgh looking to enjoy some seaside air without much interruption from the skyline. It stretches out for over two miles meaning it’s an ideal place to come to whilst trying to maintain social distancing.

Blackpool

One for memory lane, Blackpool still has all the delights from your childhood such as The Pleasure Beach and the pier, but recent renovations to the coastal resort have seen a bit of a clean up in the area which has also been helped along thanks to the town being a little less crowded throughout lockdown. Although it may not feel quite so quiet when the sun is out!

Whitby

For a bit more of a relaxing seaside town, Whitby Harbour and the pier is a great spot up North to head to enjoy a traditional seaside town. Views of the River Esk can be enjoyed from the beaches or from the top of the cliffside where the 199 Whitby Abbey steps lead up to. There’s also plenty of good walking trails to take not too far including the North York Moors National Park.

Brighton

When the sun is shining and the temperatures are soaring, Brighton is a perfect seaside destination to visit, with beautiful pebble beaches and traditional seaside attractions. The famous pier is also a great spot to enjoy the views of the shore or the skyline even if the rides aren’t currently open, and there’s also the brightly coloured cabins for a great photo spot. Brighton’s beaches are always clean and healthy thanks to the city’s eco-friendly vibes and the city itself is also a great place to walk around and take in it’s laid back culture.

We always choose a place to stay so that it is more convenient to surf. I know that it is not safe to rent equipment during a pandemic, so the whole family already has everything they need from this manufacturer https://easy-surfshop.com/tabou . Due to this, there is no anxiety, and the activity takes place in complete comfort
