4 Home Improvement Methods to Keep You Safe and Sane During Quarantine

home diyWe’re living in a turning point in modern history. This has been the most stressful period in life for millions of people worldwide, and quarantine seems to have only just begun! As we do what we can to aid in the fight against COVID-19 by staying home, we still need to find effective and meaningful outlets for our anxiety.

A little anxiety is a good means of spurring progress in your personal and professional growth, but too much can make you vulnerable to a litany of illnesses. (And the last thing anyone needs is to get ill during these already trying times!)

The best way to keep your head on straight is to make use of your newly freed time as best you can. You don’t have to move mountains to consider yourself productive: trying to accomplish something new each day is all you need to do to reap the rewards of productivity.

However, it can be hard to visualize what you can do to renovate your home with the limited resources available to you. After all, you can’t go out to your local home good store to shop or enlist the help of a contractor. Fortunately, there are plenty of smaller undertakings that can be completed with what you already have on hand. Here are 4 ways to improve your home during lockdown.

Focus on What You Can Control

Amid a pandemic, it is easy to get caught up in the daily whirlwind of morbid statistics. Bad news seems to be assaulting us from all sides, and it can beat you down—if you let it.

The truth is that you won’t get anything done around your home if you allow yourself to be bogged down by circumstances out of your control. If you cannot affect the outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic more than you already are, you should narrow your purview to a realm you can positively affect—even if that realm is as tiny as your own home.

You probably don’t have the tools or know-how on hand to renovate your entire bathroom without eventually needing to call in reinforcements. “It’s better to wait this out before taking on a project you are unsure about,” says Fix it Right Plumbing, a Melbourne Plumber. While you shouldn’t underestimate your own abilities, you should be setting yourself up for success with your home renovation goals. Take on smaller projects first and use the momentums from their success to keep the ball rolling!

Upcycle

Think about all the unused towels, forgotten t-shirts, and assorted rags you have tucked in the recesses of your closets and garage. Now, think about all of the un-upholstered or outdated furniture you have throughout your home. Whether it is an ottoman or a footstool, you can inject a room with whole new life with just a bunch of fabric and a staple gun.

Similarly, if you have a piece of canvas or slab of wood with a piece of art you have outgrown or is no longer contributing to your décor, consider painting over it and using it as a base for an entirely new creation. Don’t be shy!

Renovate Your Relaxation Spaces

Picture the calmest room in your home. Where do you go when you are seeking solace from the world? The room that you picture is the room that you should focus the bulk of your attention on.

This room is a natural starting point if you are looking for a means of letting off steam through productivity. You will reap twice as many benefits: in making the room even more relaxing, you will be relaxing. Win-win!

If you don’t have a safe retreat within your home, focus on creating one. Putting effort into the space—whether it is a bathtub that needs a scrub or an office desk due for decluttering—will make you more apt to use it.

Make Your Own Artwork

Creating art is known to be innately therapeutic. There is nothing quite like the rush that comes with bringing a vision to life. Try expanding your vision of what “creating art” means beyond paint, paintbrushes, and canvas. The beauty of art is our ability to make it out of nearly anything!

Expand your horizons. Art can even be made with a deliberate flower arrangement in your garden, or by taking chances when baking in the kitchen.

Challenge yourself to be creative on a regular basis. Even better, make it a point to repurpose unused or underused knick-knacks, art pieces, furniture, or clothes you have available in the home. The average middle-class home will likely have plenty of material to mine!

Thank you for these simple home improvement ideas. It was very helpful. Now I often do small things to make my space and rooms more comfortable or safer. Many projects take a lot of time, but I am always pleased with the result.

Choosing a contractor for repairs is one of the most difficult puzzles for property owners. Check out reviews for Reno Guys Pte Ltd here. It is the selection of a specialist that determines the quality of work done, costs and whether a person will be satisfied with the result.

You are right, this is a difficult time when you spend a lot of time at home. I think that it is important to put your house in order so that you are comfortable, call a plumber to clean old pipes, or a locksmith to fix something in the house, it will be very useful
