launch partyWhether you are arranging a family reunion or a barbecue with friends, planning an event can be difficult no matter how casual the arrangements. From who to invite to what to do to, and even a backup plan if the weather is unsuitable, there are endless amounts of considerations to think about. To prevent you from feeling so stressed and under pressure while planning that you don’t enjoy the experience, here are some top tips on what to do when planning an event.

Think About Food

At most events, from parties to family reunions, food is a crucial component to the guest’s enjoyment of the day, with many people choosing to gather around the food table for the duration of the party. Therefore, it is essential that food makes it to the top of your priorities list. If you are thinking about cooking yourself, you should choose dishes that can be made within one pot, are easy to serve, and are easy to prepare for a large number of people. This makes dishes such as stews, salads and Chilli Con Carne great options for every event, and are universally loved by all. However, if you believe you are going to struggle with cooking, take the pressure off yourself by hiring an event catering company to ease your stress and who will be able to provide you with professional level food for a large number of hungry people.

Compile a Guest List

When thinking about holding an event, you do not want it to be interrupted by unwelcome guests or upset your best friend by forgetting to send them an invitation. You should, therefore, compile a guest list before the event and send out invites in advance if necessary. Not only will this help you to gauge numbers for food and entertainment, but this will also help you with other aspects such as table and seat planning. You should choose a vast array of guests who can network, mingle and have things in common and you should make sure that there is someone for everyone to talk to, such as ensuring that there are people from all of the different age groups.

Prepare a Back-Up Plan

We have all experienced the disappointment of a picnic of barbecue being canceled due to wet weather, and you should make sure that this does not happen to your event by creating a back-up plan that is workable in wet weather. For instance, if you are holding an outdoor event, you should arrange for people to reconvene at your house or a local pub or restaurant if it happens to rain.

Arrange Entertainment

There is no party more awkward than one with a minimum of chitchat and one that is full of bored guests. To help your guests to mingle, bond and get to know each other, as well as keeping everyone entertained, you should arrange fun and exciting entertainment for everyone to enjoy, whether that means hiring a DJ, or simply arranging a game of charades.
