Why You Should Travel Self Sufficiently

Traveling self-sufficiently just refers to removing the dependency on providers to keeping your head covered and your belly full. Package vacations have their own unique appeal, but sometimes it’s nice to do things your own way. This might sound intimidating, but if you’re looking to create a real adventure on your own terms, traveling according to your own schedule and with your own belongings is the best way to truly feel free.

Eat when and what you want

Self-catering or driving an RV means that you won’t need to rely on hotel meals and restaurants to keep yourself fed. Cooking for yourself also means you get to browse and pour through local markets and experiment with produce that’s unique to that country. Making your own bowl of Manchego and olives, or compiling your own continental breakfast comes with its own sense of achievement. Of course, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to eat out, but sometimes cooking like a local can give an authentic twist to your holiday.

No need to stick to the hotel gym

If you live a particularly healthy lifestyle already, you might find sticking to the confines of a hotel gym pretty limiting. Living out of your own motorhome or rented accommodation in an area that’s surrounded by greenery means you can go out for a park run or find the local community pool. Staying on your own desired location means you will also be able to pick areas which are thriving with yoga classes and fitness centers that you are more inclined to gravitate towards.

Live on the road

If you’re an impulsive type of who like to make impromptu trips, then relying on hotel rooms to become available can be an issue. The same can be said for rentals, as often the best holiday homes are booked well in advance. Investing in a motorhome to travel the world can be a great way to bridge bohemian traveling with creature comfort. Plotting your journey before your vacation means that when you set off, you are well and truly on vacation on your own terms. If you’re looking to use a motorhome in the long run, then using Auto Finance Online to formulate a financing option for you will make the funding aspect of traveling much easier.

Get out and explore

Of course, there’s something to be said for lying next to a resort swimming pool with a cocktail in hand – who wouldn’t enjoy that? However, if you travel by your own means, you are encouraging yourself to get out and explore. Moving outside of the resort walls means you will discover unique hiking trails, interesting local restaurants, and beaches that you didn’t even know existed.

Sometimes it’s good to live outside of our comfort zone. By traveling self-sufficiently, you not only get to bring a few of your own creature comforts with you, but also tailor your vacation lifestyle around your own preferences. Of course it’s great to indulge in the odd package vacation, but sometimes it’s worth hitting the open road for a slice of the unexpected.
