african safariSpending your holidays relaxing and lounging on the beach isn’t for everyone and can get repetitive. If this sounds like you then here is a list of action-packed activities you can add to your to-do list to transform your holidays to make them more exciting.

Scuba diving in Cuba

Cuba is a country situated between the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Many diving areas can be found along Cuba’s coast. An example is the Isla de la Juventud – or the Isle of youth – which is a marine reserve that has wrecks, caves and drop-offs. Another famous diving spot is the Jardines de la Reina archipelago. It is one of the best diving locations in the country and can be reached through a liveaboard.

Scuba diving holidays in Cuba are perfect for adventure seekers. Cuba is home to about a fifth of the world’s shark species and its marine ecosystem of coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds are amongst the most intact in the region.

It is best to go scuba diving in Cuba between the months of December and April, but the rates are higher, with more people coming to visit. During the months of January to March, the waters are at their coolest. May to October is the rainy season and November to April the dry season. Do note that the East Coast often experience hurricanes from July to November, however Cuba in general is subject to about one hurricane for every two years.

Trekking in South America

Trekking is a great way to spend your holidays. It allows you to explore new places while spending time with your family and friends. One of the best places to go trekking is in South America, whether it be through following the famous Inca Trail or discovering new paths along the Cocora Valley in Colombia. South America offers spectacular views of nature and as you trek, you will see other local villages and experience cultural encounters.

Backpacking in Southeast Asia

If you are planning on going on a solo trip during the holidays, backpacking in Southeast Asia is one of the most exciting things you can do. The place offers adventure at an affordable price. If it’s your first time in Southeast Asia, try visiting Thailand first. The place is easy to navigate and there is delicious food everywhere. From there, you can visit Cambodia and Vietnam.

Golfing in the Caribbean

The Caribbean islands are populated by about 50 golf resorts. The place has become a hotspot for golfers, whether pros or amateurs, making the Caribbean an idyllic location for a golfing holiday. People would travel from all over the world just to test their golfing skills in the Caribbean’s finest and incredibly challenging golf courses. One of the most famous is the Half Moon, Rose Hall, Jamaica. It is an award winning, world famous golf course that gives you a view of beautiful vistas and the Montego Bay.

South African Safari

Exploring wildlife can also be a fun way of spending your holidays. South Africa is one of the best places to do so since it has several parks that are home to many of Africa’s famous species – leopards, rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, lions, and many others. Winter is the best time to see some wildlife since the shrubs and trees are leafless, making it easier to spot the animals.

Going on an adventure during the holidays is fun once you know which places to visit and explore. Start by ticking off any of the places and activities on this list and get started on your big adventure.
