5 Accessories to Refresh Your Garden

Natural History Museum Staycation on Healthy VoyagerIt’s easy to lose track of time when working on your garden. Improving this space takes a lot of hard work, time, and dedication, so seeing it literally blossom can be a source of pride for any homeowner. In addition to beautifying your home, a garden can provide its owners flowers, fruits, and vegetables every now and then. But plants are not the only elements in your garden that you can work on. You can also add colorful accessories and installations that can upgrade the look or change the appeal of your beloved green space. We’ve put together a nice list of accessories that can do just that.

  1. Brightly-colored flower pots. Garden pots usually come in the earthiest and most drab colors imaginable, but you don’t have to settle for orange planters if you feel like your garden can use a bit more color. You can always choose to either replace your dusty, mud-caked earthenware with colorful or oddly-shaped pots. If you’re feeling creative, you can also choose to bring out a painting set and paint earthen pots any way you like. Do this while the flowers aren’t in bloom yet, or get the kids in on it for a bonus family project.
  2. Garden furniture. Being around nature can lift up someone’s mood, and your garden can be a perfect place to unwind after a long day. Walking around your garden is nice, but having a place where you can sit down and have some tea or coffee is much better. Place a table and a couple of chairs in the middle of your garden for your family or for entertaining guests. You can get simple chairs that fit the theme of your garden, but you can also invest in pieces that are built to last. These can be metal chairs and stone benches with flowers wrought or etched into the armrests. If you can spare the budget, buy different sets for different seasons and swap them out as necessary.
  3. Lights. You don’t have to stop appreciating the landscape around your home once the sun goes down. Alternative sources of soft light scattered all over your garden can improve the  atmosphere of the place at night, even more after a bit of snowfall. From small LED lamps to tiki torches and even Christmas lights, you have a wealth of options to choose from. In addition to allowing you to see your garden in a literally different light, outdoor lamps and lights can also improve the safety and security around your property.
  1. Ornaments. You don’t have to buy gnomes and plastic flamingos if you want to give your backyard a bit of a quirky feel. There are plenty of choices out in the market today; you won’t have a hard time finding unique pieces that will appeal to your taste and complete your creative vision for your garden.  If you want a more personal look, you can make your own ornaments from scratch, too.
  1. Water features. Transform your garden into your own little piece of paradise by adding a fancy water feature as the area’s central attraction. This refreshing feature won’t only look good, it will also provide your property with the sound of bubbling, flowing water — an added stimulus that will add depth to your home’s appeal. It will attract the attention of your guests and make your area more appealing to birds. Just be sure to clean and maintain the fountain, especially before the winter season.

There you go, 5 accessories that should help you rejuvenate and refresh your garden whenever you’re feeling that a change of pace is necessary. While the above is certainly not an exhaustive list, it should help you get started!

Good pots, flowers and good light can really make your garden refreshed. Garden furniture can play an important role in this. I often buy different garden items on the gardenology website, where I find almost everything I need.
