drunk drivingDriving when drunk and under the influence of harmful intoxicants and substances is not advisable at all. When you drive drunk, not only will you put your life and the lives of your passengers at risk, you will also put other drivers on the road in harm’s way. Driving is an activity that requires a high level of concentration.

Contrary to popular belief and opinion, coffee, exercising and cold showers don’t make a person sober. Only time can help make a person more sober. Even the slightest symptoms of a buzz can impair your driving skills. Hence, even if you just have one drink and even if you drink within the legal limit, your ability to drive will be impaired and you will experience a loss of judgment. In addition to that, it will also slow down your response time. Without beating about the bush any further, here are 5 tips to preventing drunk driving. For help with legal proceedings related to drunk driving, you should consider paying a visit to Fenderson Law Firm.

Tip 1: Stop drinking a good few hours before you head home

Contrary to popular belief and opinion, coffee, exercising and cold shower don´t make a person soberer. Only time can help make a person sober. Impairment is not caused by the type of alcohol consumed; it is caused the number of drinks consumed over a certain period. Therefore, it is advisable for you to stop drinking a good few hours before you head home.

Tip 2: How about using the public transportation?

With ridesharing applications such as Uber and Lyft around, why should you put your life at risk and drive around while under the influence? These ridesharing applications can be easily used to hail cabs from smartphones; the payment to these rides can also be made online. Or, you can simply take the train or a bus. These options are easy, convenient and affordable ways to get home.

Tip 3: Stay back

If you are going to a major event looking forward to letting your hair loose and drinking like a fish, you should consider sleeping over or staying back at a hotel. Knowing that you won’t have to travel all the way back to your home after drinking will ease your mind and let you enjoy the event without worries. Therefore, if you want to avoid a DUI or a DWI, you should consider booking a hotel room beforehand.

Tip 4: Have a designated driver ready beforehand

If you are going to a party that serves drinks and alcoholic beverages, you should have a reliable, designated driver ready beforehand. The responsibility to drive should be handed to a trustworthy person who doesn’t drink; he/she should also have a valid license.

Tip 5: Eat well while you drink

You mustn´t drink on an empty stomach; it is advisable for you to eat food while drinking as the food helps absorb alcohol better. We would advise you to eat a hearty meal before starting your drinking session. After all, people tend to drink less when on a full stomach.

You are right, it is absolutely not worth putting yourself in danger when you have so many opportunities to call a car. Lyft is one of the most popular companies, but I also advise you to pay attention to the reviews of other users, you can learn more about how to contact Lyft here
