Are you one of the millions of people who can’t wait for winter to begin so that you can hit the slopes? Partaking in cold weather activities such as snowboarding and skiing are what you’ve waited for all spring, summer and fall with great anticipation. Before you get out there, it’s crucial to do a quick check of all your clothing and gear to make sure you’ll be safe and warm on the slopes – these infographics will show you exactly how. For equipment, you’ll want to have an appropriately sized helmet, goggles, boots, boot bag, skis or snowboard, ski poles, and backpack. You may also want a pair of after-ski boots to navigate the snow once you’re done skiing.

In addition to the proper equipment you’ll need to make sure your body is suitable covered in order to remain warm and comfortable. Good long underwear as a base layer is crucial, and synthetic and natural versions both have advantages and disadvantages to consider. Next comes your mid layer, followed by a durable pair of pants. Socks for winter sports are carefully developed for coverage and water-resistance. A good parka, hat, gloves, facemask, eye protection such as sunglasses and/or goggles, plus a neck gaiter will complete your look. Once everything is ready you can hit the frosty terrain fearlessly, knowing you’re prepared for loads of fun, and to face whatever comes.
