Rome is incredible, beautiful, historic and delicious! So much so that I needed to write another post on more places to dine in this ancient and impressive Italian metropolis! Just in case you missed it, be sure to check out my first post on great sites and eats in Rome!
On this second time around, I’m focusing on food so let’s roll!
For travelers in search of an amazing pizza, Dar Poeta is a must! Vegans and non-vegans alike will drool over the menu and think they’ve gone to heaven with every bite! Located in the Trastevere, old Rome, it’s lined with quaint and delicious smelling ristorantes, anything is great here but seriously, if you can find it in the labyrinth of yumminess, you’ll be delighted! Just FYI, in most any pizzeria, the bruschetta a la pomodoro and pizza marinara is always “senza formaggio” (without cheese) throughout Italy, without even having to ask. And at Dar Poeta, their marinara is uh-maze-ing!
I love La Capra Campa, especially on a nice day. Located in a park, this vegetarian eatery is an outdoorsy extra-vegan-za! Offering fresh veg versions of Italian comfort food, it’s the best combo of rustic Italy with modern veg flair. My personal fave is the vegetable risotto!
So What Ristorante is 100% vegan and brand new! I nearly missed its grand opening! So cute and with an ever changing menu, you’ll never be disappointed. Their home made gnocchi is to die for and save room for their peanut butter and dark chocolate crepe for dessert! Yumm!!
Just a short walk from the Vatican, you’ll find Ristorante Taverna Vegetariana. Serving traditional Italian fare, it’s a great place for lots of grubbin’! Lots of gluten free and vegan options, I highly recommend the pasta and bean soup along with the cipollotto! Multo bene!
I stumbled upon a fabulous organic and natural shop called La Cita dell’Altra Economia. Located in an abandoned slaughterhouse, it has since been converted into a unique venue that houses a natural market, cafe, event space and art gallery. I found lovely local artisanal products from health and beauty to home trinkets and enjoyed some delicious vegan, organic and even gluten free treats! If you have time, it’s worth a visit!
That’s all on Rome, for now, but we’re not leaving Italy just yet so stay tuned!
