North of San Francisco, in Wine Country, you can find a little hidden town called Sebastopol. A very artsy little town tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the bay area, it’s a great place to find some great wine as well as some vegan eats!
One of the better known spots in town is Slice of Life. Boasting vegetarian Italian, American and Mexican food, everyone in your dining party will leave happy and full! I love the gluten free tofu ricotta pizza as well as the Tostada. Save room for the apple pear crisp!
If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean fare, East West Cafe is for you. With traditional Med offerings along with some American sandwiches and other dishes, it’s hard to choose just one dish. The tofu and tempeh salad, the macro plate and the samosa wrap with tempeh are not to be missed. Plus, visit for brunch and get the tofu wok!
One of my favorite places is the rustic, organic eatery, Peter Lowell’s. Perfect for a light meal featuring local flavors and wine, this is classic wine country cuisine. The Gemischter Salad is fantastic as is the super fresh macro bowl. But the big winner for me is the lunch Vegan Reuben. OMG!
For some family fun by the water, Papas and Pollo is the place to go. With a fun vibe and an extensive menu that has plenty to offer veg heads, it really is a great place to get that Sebastopol feel. One of the best burritos to make my top 5 is from here, the marinated tofu burrito. It’s a must!
So whether you are on your way out of the city and into the country or vice versa, be sure to pay Sebastopol a visit!
