If you missed my last post on Moscow, be sure to check it out! You’ll se just how much I love Russia and how excited I am to have been able to experience this massive country’s culture, people and food! It’s so easy to have fun and enjoy delicious eats in vegan St. Petersburg Russia!
I was lucky enough to visit during White Nights, where the sun sets and rises within hours of itself and can be seen from a lovely river cruise I also had the wonderful opportunity to see a beautiful performance of Swan Lake and checked out the must sees like the Winter Palace, Peterhof palace and gardens and the Church of Spilled Blood, among many other beautiful sites. St. Petersburg, formerly known as Leningrad, is a wonderful city with so much to do and see.
First stop, Botanika. A great place to grab a bite, no matter what you’re in the mood for. Of course I had to get some traditional Russian eats and boy, do they do vegan Russian well! It will totally fuel you up in the most delicious way!
If you’re looking for a healthy veggie, vegan or even raw meal, look for Cafe Ukrop. With several locations around town, you can rest assured that you’ll get a tasty meal to keep you sightseeing all day long!
I had the lovely honor of meeting the owner of Kashmir, who also owns a tea house, yoga center cafe and vegan fast food chain in and around St. Petersburg. The food at all of his locales is fresh, delicious and such a great variety. Kashmir had a wonderful menu of Indian goodies and beverages while the tea house had tasty vegan snacks. The yoga center offered up wonderfully tasty, clean dishes with the fast food chain offering a fun variety of sandwiches, entrees and treats.
One of the coolest places to grab a veggie bite is at the Ligovsky prospekt Container Food Park. With tons of street food and eateries to choose from, you won’t be surprised at how many offer vegan options! Look out for Hood, Horizontal, Vilki ne protiv, Rootz and more!
The scene in Russia is booming for veggie cuisine and lifestyle and I’ll be so excited to go back someday soon!
